TEENAGERSINTOKYO SIGNS TO STOMP!

teenagers_tokyo_packSydney born and bred TEENAGERSINTOKO release their amazing debut album ‘Sacrifice’ and single ‘New Day’ through Stomp Entertainment on 20th August 2010. ‘Sacrifice’ draws together the most exciting subterranean music of the past thirty years and is bound to make the world sit up and take notice. Produced by Faultline main man and twice Mercury Prize nominated Bat For Lashes producer David Kosten, TEENAGERSINTOKYO has achieved one of the most sparkling debut albums this year with a sound which manages to marry crawling synths with pulsing rhythms and screaming guitars.

In a short space of time TEENAGERSINTOKO have come from nothing to headlining the launch of The Great Escape, performing with Wild Beasts and selling out venues across the UK, bagging support from the likes of Zane Lowe (BBC1), XFM and the NME; and most recently topping the Hype Machine chart with The Horrors remix of ‘Peter Pan’.   The band also took in a successful European tour playing to audiences in Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin and Rome.

Following the celebrated release of their self-titled EP in 2008 the then Sydney based band caught everyone’s attention, landing themselves international acclaim, support slots with CSS, The Slits & Gossip, a record deal with UK taste-maker label Back Yard Recordings and a move to the other side of the world. The timing couldn’t be better for the Australian release of ‘Sacrifice’.

Album references are immaculate: ‘Isabella’ recalls prime era Siouxie & The Banshees with a serrated electro punk edge; while ‘Long Walk Home’ is awash with moments of Joy Division synth. The relative light and optimism of first single ‘New Day’ is outweighed by the emotional calamity of ‘End It Tonight’, and

‘Peter Pan’ whips, lashes and sparks like a loose electric cable. The bass is tar thick, the drums edgy and jittering, the guitars sharp and slicing and caught in the centre, singer Samantha Lim’s veneer of fragile innocence fractures and collapses to allow glimpses to the turmoil beneath. It’s a crooked shadow racing for the dancefloor with its knives drawn.

TEENAGERSINTOKYO are poised to take their place amongst the artpop new wave; now sultry shimmerscapes like ‘3046’ and deviant dancefloor destroyers ‘Talk To The Fire’ and ‘End It Tonight’ are set to draw back the curtain on a more opulent Big Picture.

Prepare to be dazzled, blackened and bewitched.

Teenagersintokyo ‘Sacrifice’ will be released on 20th August 2010 through Stomp Entertainment.

JOHN DIGWEED TO RELEASE 2CD/DVD PACK!

dIGWEED_STRUCTURES_PACK2010 is proving to be a fantastic year for music and a great year for the ever-impressive Bedrock Records. For his latest album venture, ‘Structures’, John Digweed has selected an exceptional 33 tracks, bringing together the latest Bedrock single releases and a plethora of unreleased, exclusive tracks and remixed tracks from ‘Bedrock Eleven’, all mixed together to perfection the man himself.

The totally tuned-in, turned-on, forward thinking mix across 2xCDs, not only features the amazing music of big guns like Cristian Varela, Guy J, Christian Smith, Quivver, King Unique, Nick Warren, Mutant Clan, John Digweed & Nick Muir, but also showcases the label’s desire to push forward the rising stars of the future. A glance through the tracklist reveals the impressive talents of Rowdent, Dimitri Nakov, Marc Marzenit, Ian O`Donovan, Sian, Luis Junior and many more. The additional bonus of featuring some of the best remix work from Nic Fanciulli, Pete Heller, Psycatron and more, only confirms that John Digweed has his finger firmly on the pulse of the electronic dance scene in 2010. It’s an international showcase from this influential label that is hard to beat.

‘Structures’ is further enhanced by the inclusion of a bonus DVD featuring ‘Eye Of The Storm’, a visual masterpiece documentary, filmed on John’s last tour of South America by Pablo Casacuberta (www.pablocasacuberta.com ). His exceptional creativity assumes that the viewing audience has a certain awareness of John Digweed’s "public persona" and hence seeks to take a glimpse his inner life, thinking processes and his imagination using visual metaphors that can illustrate them in a graphic way. It’s an approach that reinvigorates the somewhat formulaic music documentary genre, and takes it to another enthralling level.

It seems amazing that through such an illustrious career so far, John Digweed has never had a live DJ mix made commercially available! But, ‘John Digweed Live at the Vagabond’, recorded live at the 9th Annual Bedrock/Creations Party at Vagabond Miami 27th March 2010, included here on the ‘Structures’ bonus DVD is yet another musical milestone. It’s a live mix complete with slideshow that captures the essence of this amazing Bedrock party for posterity.

Watch a clip from the DVD here.

’Structures’ will be released 16th July 2010 through Bedrock/Stomp.

CRADLE OF FILTH SIGNS TO PEACEVILLE RECORDS!

Cradle_of_filth_logo
One of the most infamous and notorious names in metal, Cradle Of Filth continue to shock, excite, disgust and inspire in equal measures.  In October 2010, on 'All Hallows Eve', the latest chapter of the band’s dark history is to be released through Peaceville Records / Stomp Entertainment on the band’s own AbraCadaver imprint.

Grammy nominated Cradle Of Filth have been pioneers of extreme music since their debut in 1994 and have continued to evolve with each of their subsequent releases. Unafraid of ruffling a few feathers, the band have continually refused to bow to convention or to conform to prevalent trends and fads. Yet despite this uncompromising stance the band are still the most successful British heavy metal band since Iron Maiden, with legions of fans around the globe.

Never shy of embracing the epic, Cradle have constantly sought to push the boundaries of their art. Whether through elaborately theatrical stage shows (incorporating giant lumbering puppets, fire-breathing dancers, freaks and stilt-walkers from the notorious Circus Of Horrors), provocative merchandise (including the now legendary ‘Jesus Is A C***’ t-shirt), breathtaking artwork or the weighty subject matter of their albums (their latest one was a concept album telling the story of a French Lord who fought alongside Joan Of Arc, before embarking on a horrific killing spree), this is a band who have refused to be confined by the labels that have been placed on them.

The band (comprising of Dani Filth-vocals, Paul Allender and James McIlroy-guitars, David Pybus-bass, Martin Skaroupka-drums and Ashley Ellyllon-Keys) enter Monkey Puzzle studios near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk this month to start work on their new album, the follow up to 2008’s Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder. Cradle Of Filth remain stalwarts to the satanic horror ethos by again composing a fully blown concept album, this time based on Adam's first wife, the lascivious Demoness Lilith; throwing Medieval nuns, Knights Templars, Greek mythology and lashings of sex, occult lore and violent bloodshed into the smelting pot, to create a darkly erotic nightmare set to their unique scope of supreme vampyric metal.

For this release the band wanted mastery of their own destiny, choosing to release the album on their very own AbraCadaver label in conjunction with Peaceville Records / Stomp Entertainment, home to such illicit luminaries as Darkthrone, Katatonia, My Dying Bride, Bloodbath and Gallhammer amidst many others.

Vocalist Dani Filth has described the move as being 'a choice to move away from the artistic restrictions/mindless inhibitions imposed by dwelling on a major label' and cites the current financial clime as 'the perfect opportunity to start doing things our own way again, with the added benefit of being a far bigger fish in a proverbial pool, surrounded by people who have been handpicked to get the job best done. And more importantly... who still are hungry for the taste of music'.

Having recently published the long-awaited 'Gospel Of Filth' grimoire of all things ghastly and ghoulish, the band will finish the new album, undertake its heavy press schedule and then embark on a full world tour in its support. Whatever the future holds, you are guaranteed that the alliance between Cradle Of Filth and Peaceville Records / Stomp Entertainment will be mad, bad and dangerous to know...

The cradle will f**king rock!

DETROIT GRAND PUBAHS ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM AND SINGLE!

dETROIT_PUBAHS_SINGLE_PACKThose fine purveyors of funk-fuelled electronics, Detroit Grand Pubahs are back with a new album for the new decade, and to whet your appetite for this highly anticipated return is their latest single ‘Numb Deaf & Dumb’. The teaming of Mack Goudy Jr. (aka Paris the Black) & The Mysterious Mr O was a natural disaster waiting to happen. Miraculously, the personalities of these two tweaked characters seemed to complement each other perfectly and they instantly bonded. As Detroit Grand Pubahs, they continue to raise the bar with past albums like ‘Nuttin’ Butt Funk’ which included the mighty ‘Skydive From Venus’ as well as an ever progressing live show.

Their own Detelefunk label (Detroit Electro Funk, to give it its full title) took a brief hiatus for much of 2009 while they moved distributors, but now it’s back with all funk guns blazing. On ‘Numb Deaf & Dumb’ the Pubahs take on a classic break-up song, but add their own electro twists and turns. In typical Pubahs style the deep, sincere toned vocals, but sometimes tongue-in-cheek lyrics from Paris are underpinned by the inspired machine antics of this duo.

Long-standing UK tag-team Space DJz (Ben Long / Jamie Bissmire) turn in the first alternative mix; a stripped-down rumbler of dark electro proportions. While the legendary DJ Pierre draws on his pioneering acid skills to distort the vocals and add effective definition, making his ‘Afro Acid Mix’ a major dancefloor contender this summer.

Also look out for the video of ‘Numb Deaf & Dumb’ while you wait for the Pubahs next album to be unleashed later in the year. The video is drawn from the classic Tex Avery cartoons where the country wolf goes mad over the city women, but in this version Paris wants to capture the 4 lovely ladies in sheep costumes for Mr. O to work his magic.

Watch the video clip here

“NUmb, Deaf & DUmb“ is the first single taken off the new album “Madd Circus“ to be released 13 September 2010 through Stomp/Detelefunk.
